Editing myself: The same way I constantly handle books, papers, and pages of all sorts and have only ever had three papercuts in my entire life?
Maybe he didn’t make physical contact very often. Or… Have you ever actually HELD a piece of centuries-old paper? Its edges aren’t as sharp; they’re actually quite soft unless they’ve been gold-leafed.
Or maybe he knows she isn’t incredibly comfortable with physical contact and the whole “let me brush your cheek and hold your hand” is still a new developement in this scene…
